Write a 500-word Narrative Essay. Please use 12-pt, Courier New font as the standard font. Now that you’ve written using descriptive detail, you may find it easier to review a memory (non-fiction), to show your reader a story by using an incredibly important memory that gives your reader an idea of what you actually value in life (not what you believe, as that is not the same concept—AT ALL). For instance, if what you value is baking, then you might have a detailed memory about baking cookies with a family member, or baking in highschool cooking class. You must SHOW your value, not TELL your value. No one cares about what you believe; people care about who you are through what you value. What you value, ultimately, decides your actual beliefs. So, go back into a memory, and simply live it, as if you are reading a novel that is a live narration of events in your life. DO NOT WRITE ME AN EDITORIAL. I’m not interested in your opinion. Relive a memory of your choice, then leave that memory on the page. Don’t tell your reader how s/he should feel about something. Let the reader figure out who you are by their reading of your re-lived memory. They will see what you value in that memory, or what is happening to you, thus will come to understand the author, you, as a person. What you value is deeper than what you believe. If you “tell” your readers about this, I will hand the paper back, and ask for a rewrite. Tell your reader nothing; show the reader everything. Let your reader see you through the storytelling language of the memory, using the descriptive style you’ve already written.
