The exam will consist of a short paper (600 words), and it will be based on Aristotle’s virtue ethics. Using critical thinking, arguments, and quotations from Plato’s Meno, please analyze the following: According to Socrates, one should not heed popular opinion about moral matters. In Plato’s dialogue Meno, Socrates also argues that we should examine what virtue is. What definitions of virtue, provided by Plato’s Meno, do you recognize as relevant? How 4 would you name Socrates’ position? Is he against relativism? What is Meno’s moral position? How are they different? Use your own words to sketch conclusions. How does reason participate in the constitution of virtue, according to Plato’s Meno? Do you agree with the philosopher that reason is essential in moral matters? Why/why not? What is your definition of virtue?
