Choose a recent event that involves the community and police and describe how it has impacted the relationship between the two. This could be an issue involving the use of force, community policing, recruitment, diversity or other related concern that has recently been debated in our society. Please remember to not simply post opinions. Posts must be factual based and have sources to support one's submissions You must support your response with scholarly sources in APA format. Simply stating your opinion is not enough, back up your opinion with citations. Refer to the DB Grading Rubric for more details. Human Services & Sociology Discussion Board Rubric Total Points: Each Discussion Board in Units 1-7 will be worth 40 points Please make sure to review this rubric carefully before participating in the weekly discussions, as this rubric may be different from ones you may have seen in previous courses. Discussions are a significant part of online learning. Consider this your "in-class time," where you can interact with your classmates and instructors to discuss what you have learned from the course materials and how it relates specifically to you. For each unit Discussion Forum, you will be graded on the following criteria: • Main Post-Response Quality: Main post should be well elaborated and highly detailed in the discussion of required readings, demonstrating mastery of the course material, and containing new or original thought. Relevant theories, concepts, and/or research findings should be consistently incorporated to support opinion statements. • Two Reply Posts-Response Quality: Reply posts should be highly detailed, thoughtful, relevant, and foster further learning and discussion of the classmate's or instructor's post. Relevant theories, concepts, and/or research findings continued to be consistently incorporated in order to support opinion statements. • Posting Schedule: Main post should be submitted by Wednesday, with at least two other replies submitted on at least two other days during the unit. • Supplemental Resource: Include a relevant and scholarly supplemental resource, cited in APA format, to your post to support posting content and foster further learning. • Question Generated: Include a relevant question in your post to encourage further discussion. • APA Formatting: Include APA style References and citations. Be sure to use the most recent version of the APA Manual. • Professional Communication: Communication should be professional with no errors relative to grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure.
