Fund: Vanguard Selected Value Fund Investor Shares (VASVX) Choose an actively-managed mutual fund; search function in Bloomberg is FSRC Use FREP and PORT screens for more information on the fund to determine the basic characteristics of the fund. Go to the fund’s website and print out the fund’s objective, fee schedule and other relevant information from the prospectus (web address on page four of DES screen). Perform style analysis (FSTA) to determine where the fund is investing (look at different timeframes to see if asset allocation changes over time) Go to PORT HD to determine the current sector weightings and top 10 holdings over the past five years (Q4 2017 – Q4 2021) The goal of this project is to study what we are learning in Swensen’s book; evaluate the management of the fund over the past five years with what we have learned in class. You want to have a thorough, but concise, discussion of the fund’s investment philosophy, asset allocations, asset class management, risk, return, and investment process. Furthermore, you want to focus on changes in any of these characteristics of the fund over the past five years. Why did they, or didn’t they, make changes? And any type of financial analysis must be in context of its benchmark. The report must be no more than four to six pages, and it must incorporate in the body of the report graphs and/or tables; include additional analysis in the appendix. Book attached.
