Exercise 1 you will have the opportunity to think about how your senses contribute to every day activities like eating. Choose a meal that you will preferably, eat at home. Prepare your meal, set it in front of you while sitting, and then place a blindfold over your eyes. Remain blinfolded throughout the meal( from soup/ salad trhought dessert) after the dinner is over, write about your experience by answering the following question: 1)Please rank the senses in terms of how much you relied on each, then tell how you used each sense( this is a narrative rather than reacting this chart.) sense, hearing, kinesthetic/ vestibular smell, taste, touch 2)How enjoyable was dining in the dark compare to dining in the light? 3)What, if anything, did you do differently when dining in the dark than you would normally do when dining in the light? 4) What sensory aspects of the experience did you like most? 5) what sensory aspects of the experience did you like least? 6)would you dine in the dark again? why, or why not? 7)what did you learn about in the sensation and perception readings in this unit that help you to understand this experience on a deeper level? Exercise2 You are going to gather some data and discuss your result, interview of survey 10 people and ask each person the first three terms or words that come to mind whent they think of each of these age groups( each interviewee will give you 12 words): childre, teenagers, middle-ages adults, senior citizens. After completing your survey. you should then have 30 words for each groups ages.determine what kind of connotation it has; is it positive(P) or negative(N), or neutre(o) mark each word. look at the frequency of the most used terms and also the distribution of P,N, & O. Discuss the results of your survey. include ansewrs to the following questions 1) which words were mentioned most frequetly for each group? were the mostly P,N, or O? 2) Do the words get more negative as you move from children to senior citizens or more positive? or is there no change as you move up each group age? 3) many of these words will be stereotypes to describe each group. whre do these stereotypes come from? cite from your reading and/or outside sources( include APA formatted, in-text citations) to support your statement. 4) How do negative stereotypes affect individuals in each stage of life? provide an example andcite your souce with APA formatted, in text citations.
