Discuss the theme or main idea of the poem. Discuss the stylistic devices (tone, allusion, figurative language,) that are used to develop the theme, and what connections you have made to your own journey after reading the poem. Consider these questions: To whom is the author speaking? What advice is the author giving? How is Ithaka used both literally and figuratively in this poem? Your essay should have an introduction with a clear thesis, well-developed body paragraphs and a clear conclusion. Your essay should be three to five paragraphs long. Each paragraph should be five to eight sentences. Be sure to provide specific examples to support your thesis.
