Critical Appraisal of a Qualitative Research Article Before embarking upon this
Critical Appraisal of a Qualitative Research Article Before embarking upon this assignment, please send a copy of your article to the instructor (Dr. Brabham) for approval. Consider using the Qualitative Research article from your Differentiating Research Assignment; IF the article is a valid Qualitative study. A Systematic Review does not meet the criteria for this assignment. In addition, if you bypass the approval process and chose an article that is not a Qualitative study, it will be challenging to perform the critical appraisal and impact your grade. Directions: Select a Qualitative nursing research article published in the past 5 years is required. Use APA formatting throughout the paper (see APA 7th) resources. Include a title page, reference list, and at least 500 - 800 words to perform a Critical Appraisal of a Qualitative research study. Utilize APA level one and level two headings to organize your work. Appraise the quality of the article/research study using the Guidelines for a Critique of a Research Report based on Fain, (2021) Chapter 15, (317-335). Introduction Write a brief description of the research article and include the following: The purpose of the research study Identify the type of qualitative study (descriptive, grounded theory, ethnography, phenomenology) Describe the "numerical" Level of Evidence according to the scale posted below at the end of the page Each of the following topics requires a heading and should include at least one paragraph about the topic. If the topic does not exists; state that information in your writing and refer to Fain (2021) to define the following topics: Problem Statement: Research questions Literature review Sample and sampling procedure Protection of human subjects Methodology Data collection procedures Data analysis procedures Scientific integrity: credibility/transferability/dependability/confirmability Results and findings of the study Evaluation summary: Discuss the applicability to replicate the study and, or apply the study findings in your area of Nursing Practice, whether that be a hospital, home health, SNF, etc. How does this study relate to evidence-based nursing practice? Comment on the unique findings, impact on nursing, the strengths and weaknesses of the study Resources: Numerical Level of Research Evidence Based on the Scale Below: Level 1: Systematic Review of experimental studies (well-designed Randomized Clinical Trials) Level 2: Meta-analyses of experimental, quasi-experimental, and outcomes studies ( Level 3: Reviews of experimental, quasi-experimental, and outcomes studies Level 4: Single Experimental study Quantitative Level 5: Single Quasi-experimental study Quantitative Level 6: Meta-analysis of correlational studies Level 7: Integrative Reviews of correlational and descriptive studies (interchangeable with level 1 Systematic Review).
