Analyze the impact of politics on two works of creative arts in the 20th century
Analyze the impact of politics on two works of creative arts in the 20th century using examples from different forms of art--visual arts, music, literature, theater, film, dance. (For example, I could write about Picasso's painting "Guernica" and about Gil Scott Heron's poem "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" because they are different forms of art.) You must discuss in detail the historical/political context of the work of art. Consider what was happening in the world and in the artist’s life at the time this work was created and how that context influenced the work. Synthesize or analyze the issues, ideas, artifacts, or events relevant to your thesis. This includes identifying specific historical events or cultural developments that are relevant for the discussion of the artwork and using those events or developments to make specific arguments in the analysis of the artwork. Detailed Instructions: Your paper must be between 800-1200 words in length. Remember to focus on original insights and a well-supported analysis. (I highly recommend reviewing the grading rubric.) Your essay should be a standard essay--Introductory paragraph, then a discussion of the first work of art and politics, second work of art and politics, then a conclusion. Make a strong first impression with an interesting title --do not title your paper Critical Thinking Essay --and start with a good introduction. First impressions matter. Editing and polishing your essay matter too. (Poor grammar makes an impression similar to showing up for a job interview with your shirt untucked.)
