After reading the Power Point on “Lesson 8: Hamlet, Act 2” under “Lessons and As
After reading the Power Point on "Lesson 8: Hamlet, Act 2" under "Lessons and Assignments," please do the following: 1. Select a short speech from Act 2 that reveals character -- that is, something important about the person speaking it. First provide the quote, and then explain what it tells us about the speaker. To quote lines from a play, follow the quotation with act, scene and line number in parentheses after the quote. For example: Hamlet’s most famous speech in Act 3, Scene 1, line 57 would be quoted as follows: “To be or not to be” (3.1.57). 2. Select a different speech that somehow reflects and develops one of the play’s important themes (see Slide #6 of the Hamlet intro power point I included with the Week 9 assignment). Explain your quote’s relevance to this theme. 3. Select and quote another speech that contains an important symbol or image. Explain what this symbol or image represents or how that symbol or image connects to the play’s theme(s). Each of your answers should be a brief paragraph – not just a phrase of two or three words. The assignment is due on Saturday at the usual time. Do not forget to do the usual peer replies the following week.
